NQIT announces inspection initiative looking at exposure to silica in quarries

During 2014 and 2015, the National Quarries Inspection Team (NQIT) will undertake an initiative looking at the measures taken in quarries to control exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS). A number of visits to sites will be timed to coincide with the broader campaign being run by the HSE’s Construction Division later on this month.

You can find more information on the control of exposure to RCS in Quarry COSHH Essentials, on the HSE’s website at Quarry COSHH Essentials

If you would like further help or advice relating to the health & safety management of your quarry, please contact Ken Stevens on 01302 341 344.
